Community Cinema Series: We Still Live Here
Free show!
The free monthly Community Cinema Series previews PBS Independent Lens films from September to May prior to their release. Films are followed by lively panel discussions that connect communities with relevant organizations, resources, and opportunities to get involved in some of today's key social issues.
WE STILL LIVE HERE tells a remarkable story of cultural revival by the Wampanoag Indians of Southeastern Massachusetts. Their ancestors ensured the survival of the first English settlers in America, the 'Pilgrims,' and lived to regret it. Spurred on by their intrepid linguist Jessie Little Doe Baird, they are now saying loud and clear, and in their Native tongue, "Âs Nutayuneân," – "We Still Live Here."
After the film, there will be a panel and discussion. Speakers to be announced.
